Gráinne is passionate about the idea of encouraging people who know a great deal about things, to engage with the general public. She has more than ten years of experience of covering education and research and development issues for The Irish Times.

A qualified primary school teacher, Gráinne taught for a number of years in both Ireland and Tanzania before doing an MA in journalism in DIT. With her experience as a teacher a specialisation in education journalism was a natural step.

In writing weekly features for the education pages in The Irish Times, as well as research focused stories for specialist supplements, she has accumulated a great deal of knowledge about what works and what doesn't when people working in higher education and research deal with the media.

Gráinne has also worked as a current affairs researcher in RTE and Today FM. This involved identifying and preparing people, both experienced and inexperienced, for live and pre-recorded interviews on television and radio.
